Affiliate Disclosure

Short version: we earn commissions when readers buy floor plans or kits through links on this site. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not decide what we recommend.

Barndominium.org is free to read. There is no subscription, no paywall and no sponsored editorial. The site is funded by commissions from partners, and this page explains exactly how that works, because a disclosure that does not name anything is not much of a disclosure.

Who We Earn From

BarndominiumPlans.com — our main floor-plan partner. When you buy a plan set after clicking through from this site, we receive a commission on that sale. Plan sets typically run $849.99 to $1,749.99. We work with their team to design and develop custom plans based on our most popular selling kits.

DreamStart Builders — our kit partner since 2026, covering the 24 SIP kit packages listed on this site starting at $35,000.

Houseplans.com — National floor-plan partner since 2023. When you buy a plan set after clicking through from this site, we receive a commission on that sale.

ArchitecturalDesigns.com — National floor-plan partner since 2018. When you buy a plan set after clicking through from this site, we receive a commission on that sale.

BNBuildings.com — Atlanta, Georgia based metal building manufacturer.

What It Costs You

Nothing. The price you pay is identical whether you reach a partner through a link on this site or type their address directly into your browser. Commissions are paid by the partner out of their margin, not added to your bill.

How Links Are Marked

Partner links on this site run through a /shop/ address before redirecting. That is a tracking link, and it is how the commission gets attributed. Any button or link that reads “view the plan set,” “see the plan,” “order this plan” or similar is a partner link. Links to other pages on barndominium.org are not.

What This Does Not Change

Which plans we feature. Plans are chosen on how many real client photographs exist for them, whether they fit a category we cover, and whether the layout does something worth writing about. Not on what they pay.

What we say about them. There are plans on this site we tell readers not to buy, and pages where the honest answer is that the plan is wrong for their lot, their budget or their site conditions. A page that only ever says yes is not worth anyone’s time, including ours.

Our cost figures. Every cost number on this site comes from one guide with one set of rates, and none of it comes from a partner.
